# Encrypted Email vs Passwordstate

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Passwordstate at 100% against Encrypted Email's 47%. Passwordstate also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4). Encrypted Email's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (50K vs 4). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypted Email sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Passwordstate asks for nothing beyond the download.

Encrypted Email holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypted Email has 50K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Encrypted Email's written reviews are positive against 100% of Passwordstate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Encrypted Email ships an update every 10 days, Passwordstate every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
