# Encrypted Email vs Rool

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Encrypted Email at 49K against Rool's 3. Encrypted Email also leads on chart position (#70 vs unranked). Rool's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encrypted Email sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Rool sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Rool holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Encrypted Email has 49K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Encrypted Email ships an update every 11 days, Rool fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
