# Proton Mail vs NameTime

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Proton Mail at 49K against NameTime's 3. Proton Mail also leads on chart position (#68 vs unranked). NameTime's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Mail sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and NameTime sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NameTime holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Mail has 49K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Proton Mail ships an update every 10 days, NameTime every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
