# Watch Chess vs ChronoTap

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ChronoTap at none against Watch Chess's 3. ChronoTap also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Watch Chess's advantage is ratings volume (83 vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Watch Chess sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. ChronoTap asks for nothing beyond the download.

ChronoTap holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Watch Chess has 83 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Watch Chess ships an update every 2 weeks, ChronoTap every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
