# Cuneiform Edit vs Video Summarizer

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Cuneiform Edit at none against Video Summarizer's 3. Cuneiform Edit also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (85% vs 75%). Video Summarizer's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 14 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video Summarizer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Cuneiform Edit asks for nothing beyond the download.

Video Summarizer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video Summarizer has 157 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 85% of Cuneiform Edit's written reviews are positive against 75% of Video Summarizer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cuneiform Edit ships an update every 14 months, Video Summarizer every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on August 25, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
