# Four Squares vs Dunk Hoop

The clearest difference is ads: Four Squares at none against Dunk Hoop's shown. Four Squares also leads on review sentiment (79% vs 69%). Dunk Hoop's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 57 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Four Squares sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Dunk Hoop sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dunk Hoop holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dunk Hoop has 36K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Four Squares's written reviews are positive against 69% of Dunk Hoop's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Four Squares ships an update every 57 months, Dunk Hoop every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
