# Countdown vs XDP

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Countdown at 80% against XDP's 2%. Countdown also leads on rating (4.7 vs 1.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). XDP's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 6) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. XDP asks for nothing beyond the download.

Countdown holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown has 24K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of Countdown's written reviews are positive against 2% of XDP's.

Countdown ships an update weekly, XDP every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
