# FileMate vs File Password Keeper

The clearest difference is ads: File Password Keeper at none against FileMate's shown. File Password Keeper also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). FileMate's advantage is ratings volume (380 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FileMate sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and File Password Keeper sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.00 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

File Password Keeper holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FileMate has 380 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
