# The Villages® App vs Reader Perks

The clearest difference is rating: The Villages® App at 4.6 against Reader Perks's 1.6. The Villages® App also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 29 months) and ratings volume (14K vs 5). Reader Perks's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Villages® App holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Villages® App has 14K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 33% and 33% positive.

The Villages® App ships an update every 2 weeks, Reader Perks every 29 months. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
