# GradientMaker vs Chelly

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GradientMaker at 100% against Chelly's 51%. GradientMaker also leads on iOS requirement (8.1 vs 15.0). Chelly's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 32 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GradientMaker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chelly sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chelly holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chelly has 186 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of GradientMaker's written reviews are positive against 51% of Chelly's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GradientMaker ships an update every 32 months, Chelly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
