# SecureVPN vs GhostGuard

The clearest difference is monetization model: SecureVPN at free with in-app purchases against GhostGuard's subscription. SecureVPN also leads on ratings volume (3.8K vs 987) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 12.0). GhostGuard's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SecureVPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and GhostGuard sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for SecureVPN against 4.5 for GhostGuard. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3.8K and 987 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 79% of SecureVPN's written reviews are positive against 82% of GhostGuard's.

SecureVPN ships an update every 2 months, GhostGuard every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
