# Google Cardboard vs QUT Global Goggles

The clearest difference is rating: Google Cardboard at 2.7 against QUT Global Goggles's 2.2. Google Cardboard also leads on ratings volume (682 vs 5). QUT Global Goggles's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Google Cardboard holds the better App Store score, 2.7 against 2.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Cardboard has 682 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 27% of Google Cardboard's written reviews are positive against 29% of QUT Global Goggles's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Google Cardboard ships an update every 3 months, QUT Global Goggles weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
