# Wi vs Railstream

The clearest difference is monetization model: Wi at free with in-app purchases against Railstream's subscription. Wi also leads on ads (none vs shown). Railstream's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 3.7) and review sentiment (58% vs 36%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wi sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Railstream sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Railstream holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Railstream has 128 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 36% of Wi's written reviews are positive against 58% of Railstream's.

Wi ships an update every 3 months, Railstream every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
