# Recent Contacts Timeline vs Dark Mode Extension

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Dark Mode Extension at 100% against Recent Contacts Timeline's 50%. Dark Mode Extension also leads on iOS requirement (16.4 vs 26.0). Recent Contacts Timeline's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and rating (4.8 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dark Mode Extension sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Recent Contacts Timeline asks for nothing beyond the download.

Recent Contacts Timeline holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Recent Contacts Timeline has 49 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Recent Contacts Timeline's written reviews are positive against 100% of Dark Mode Extension's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
