# Notes Lock vs Lock Notes

The clearest difference is rating: Lock Notes at 4.5 against Notes Lock's 2.7. Lock Notes also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 6). Notes Lock's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (87% vs 73%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Lock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Lock Notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Lock Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lock Notes has 1.1K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Notes Lock's written reviews are positive against 73% of Lock Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notes Lock ships an update every 3 months, Lock Notes every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
