# Notes Lock vs Notepad

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Notes Lock at 87% against Notepad's 33%. Notes Lock also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.6). Notepad's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 2.7) and ratings volume (64 vs 6). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Lock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Notepad sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notepad holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notepad has 64 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Notes Lock's written reviews are positive against 33% of Notepad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
