# Notes Lock vs Guru VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Guru VPN at 4.5 against Notes Lock's 2.7. Guru VPN also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 6). Notes Lock's advantage is review sentiment (87% vs 77%) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Lock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Guru VPN sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Guru VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guru VPN has 1.9K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Notes Lock's written reviews are positive against 77% of Guru VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notes Lock ships an update every 3 months, Guru VPN every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
