# Notes Lock vs Secure Notes

The clearest difference is rating: Secure Notes at 4.6 against Notes Lock's 2.7. Secure Notes also leads on ratings volume (719 vs 6) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). Notes Lock's advantage is review sentiment (87% vs 65%) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Lock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Secure Notes sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Secure Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Secure Notes has 719 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Notes Lock's written reviews are positive against 65% of Secure Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notes Lock ships an update every 3 months, Secure Notes fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
