# Distances To vs Free Map Tools

The clearest difference is ads: Distances To at none against Free Map Tools's shown. Distances To also leads on rating (4.3 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (884 vs 61). Free Map Tools's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 16 months). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Distances To holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Distances To has 884 ratings behind it against 61, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Distances To's written reviews are positive against 68% of Free Map Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Distances To ships an update every 16 months, Free Map Tools fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
