# My OTEC vs BottleDrop

The clearest difference is rating: My OTEC at 3.2 against BottleDrop's 2.3. My OTEC also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). BottleDrop's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (104 vs 6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

My OTEC holds the better App Store score, 3.2 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BottleDrop has 104 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of My OTEC's written reviews are positive against 11% of BottleDrop's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

My OTEC ships an update every 6 months, BottleDrop every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
