# Square vs Temperature Log Book

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Square at none against Temperature Log Book's 1. Square also leads on ratings volume (3.5K vs 1) and review sentiment (25% vs 11%). Temperature Log Book's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 17.1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Temperature Log Book sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $18.99 per year. Square asks for nothing beyond the download.

Temperature Log Book holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square has 3.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Square's written reviews are positive against 11% of Temperature Log Book's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Square ships an update weekly, Temperature Log Book every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
