# Square vs DriveNow

The clearest difference is rating: Square at 4.8 against DriveNow's 3.7. Square also leads on ratings volume (3.4K vs 9). DriveNow's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 25%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Square holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square has 3.4K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Square's written reviews are positive against 50% of DriveNow's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Square ships an update weekly, DriveNow every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
