# CalmusNotation vs MusicTGA

The clearest difference is rating: CalmusNotation at 4.4 against MusicTGA's 2.8. CalmusNotation also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and device support (4 vs 2). MusicTGA's advantage is ratings volume (68 vs 5) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MusicTGA sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. CalmusNotation asks for nothing beyond the download.

CalmusNotation holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MusicTGA has 68 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of CalmusNotation's written reviews are positive against 3% of MusicTGA's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CalmusNotation ships an update every 4 months, MusicTGA every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
