# FilFan vs Zagel

The clearest difference is ads: Zagel at none against FilFan's shown. Zagel also leads on update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (153 vs 6). FilFan's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 73%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Zagel holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Zagel has 153 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of FilFan's written reviews are positive against 73% of Zagel's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FilFan ships an update every 5 months, Zagel every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
