# Satellite Pointer vs SatCatcher

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SatCatcher at none against Satellite Pointer's 1. SatCatcher also leads on review sentiment (53% vs 38%). Satellite Pointer's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (3.3K vs 80). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Satellite Pointer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. SatCatcher asks for nothing beyond the download.

Satellite Pointer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Satellite Pointer has 3.3K ratings behind it against 80, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Satellite Pointer's written reviews are positive against 53% of SatCatcher's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Satellite Pointer ships an update monthly, SatCatcher every 9 months. Both last shipped on October 11, 2026.
