# Satellite Pointer vs SatFinder (MGE)

The clearest difference is rating: Satellite Pointer at 4.5 against SatFinder (MGE)'s 3.0. Satellite Pointer also leads on ratings volume (3.3K vs 5) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). SatFinder (MGE)'s advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 38%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Satellite Pointer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SatFinder (MGE) sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.49 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Satellite Pointer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Satellite Pointer has 3.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Satellite Pointer's written reviews are positive against 50% of SatFinder (MGE)'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Satellite Pointer ships an update monthly, SatFinder (MGE) every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
