# dotpict vs Pixel Art Maker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: dotpict at 77% against Pixel Art Maker's 17%. dotpict also leads on rating (4.6 vs 2.0) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months). Pixel Art Maker's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. dotpict sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month and Pixel Art Maker sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

dotpict holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: dotpict has 787 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.
