# Document Scanner vs PDF Scanner

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Document Scanner at 1.9K against PDF Scanner's 54. PDF Scanner's advantage is review sentiment (48% vs 32%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Document Scanner sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and PDF Scanner sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Document Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Document Scanner has 1.9K ratings behind it against 54, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of Document Scanner's written reviews are positive against 48% of PDF Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Document Scanner ships an update every 3 weeks, PDF Scanner every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
