# Spark Mail vs Passwordstate

The clearest difference is rating: Spark Mail at 4.6 against Passwordstate's 3.3. Spark Mail also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (83K vs 4). Passwordstate's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 61%) and in-app purchases (none vs 17). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spark Mail sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Passwordstate asks for nothing beyond the download.

Spark Mail holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spark Mail has 83K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Spark Mail's written reviews are positive against 100% of Passwordstate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Spark Mail ships an update weekly, Passwordstate every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
