# SolarWriter vs Timemator

The clearest difference is rating: Timemator at 4.7 against SolarWriter's 3.8. Timemator also leads on ratings volume (169 vs 16) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SolarWriter sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Timemator sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Timemator holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Timemator has 169 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of SolarWriter's written reviews are positive against 63% of Timemator's.

SolarWriter ships an update every 5 months, Timemator every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
