# SolarWriter vs inkScript

The clearest difference is update cadence: inkScript at every 4 days against SolarWriter's every 5 months. inkScript also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SolarWriter sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and inkScript sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SolarWriter ships an update every 5 months, inkScript every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
