# Video Compress vs Shrink

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shrink at every 5 days against Video Compress's every 2 months. Shrink also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Video Compress's advantage is ratings volume (3.7K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video Compress sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Shrink sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.09 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shrink holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Video Compress has 3.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Video Compress ships an update every 2 months, Shrink every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
