# Luma Surveillance vs Violet

The clearest difference is rating: Violet at 3.7 against Luma Surveillance's 1.8. Violet also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 11 months). Luma Surveillance's advantage is ratings volume (291 vs 3). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Violet holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Luma Surveillance has 291 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 5% of Luma Surveillance's written reviews are positive against 0% of Violet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Luma Surveillance ships an update every 11 months, Violet every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
