# DartCounter vs MapRun

The clearest difference is rating: DartCounter at 4.8 against MapRun's 3.7. DartCounter also leads on ratings volume (2K vs 3) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). MapRun's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 7). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DartCounter sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. MapRun asks for nothing beyond the download.

DartCounter holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DartCounter has 2K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of DartCounter's written reviews are positive against 57% of MapRun's.

DartCounter ships an update weekly, MapRun every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
