# DartCounter vs The Celtic Way

The clearest difference is monetization model: DartCounter at free with in-app purchases against The Celtic Way's subscription. DartCounter also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (2K vs 1). The Celtic Way's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 66%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DartCounter sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and The Celtic Way sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Celtic Way holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DartCounter has 2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of DartCounter's written reviews are positive against 100% of The Celtic Way's.

DartCounter ships an update weekly, The Celtic Way every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
