Is AppsHunter.io legit? Safety, deals and trust scores checked

Last updated: October 9, 2026. Written by the AppsHunter team. Because this is our own site, every claim below points to something you can check without taking our word for it.

Is AppsHunter legit?

Yes. AppsHunter.io is a free catalog of 2.2 million App Store apps, with prices taken from Apple's App Store data and refreshed every day. It hosts no downloads and takes no payments, and on October 9, 2026, Google Safe Browsing and all 92 security vendors on VirusTotal rated the domain clean.

The rest of this page shows how to verify each part of that answer yourself, starting with a TurboScan deal we checked against Apple's own listing.

What is AppsHunter?

AppsHunter.io is a website for finding apps, not an app store. It lists 2.2 million apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Vision Pro, with the price, ratings, a review summary and a price history for each one.

Its main sections are Apps on Sale, the app price tracker and Launches, a weekly board for new iOS apps. The domain was registered on February 6, 2023, according to its WHOIS record.

How does AppsHunter make money?

Readers never pay AppsHunter anything. The site earns money in four ways:

  • Google AdSense ads on app and deals pages, as its privacy policy discloses.
  • Paid promotion for developers, shown to readers as cards labeled "Promoted."
  • Donations through a Buy Me a Coffee page linked in the footer.
  • App Store data and analytics for developers, sold through its sister product AppSigma.

Is AppsHunter safe to use?

It doesn't host any downloads

The footer on every page states that AppsHunter only provides data from Apple's iTunes Search API and links exclusively to the Apple App Store. Every "Download on the App Store" button opens Apple's own listing, where the install and any payment happen.

You can confirm the link goes to the right app by comparing IDs. TurboScan's AppsHunter page ends in id1017559099, and so does its App Store listing.

It never asks for payment details

There is no checkout anywhere on AppsHunter. An account is optional and only needed to vote on launches or save collections; the sign-in page offers Google or an email and password, and nothing else.

What data it collects

The privacy policy lists standard server log files, cookies, Google Analytics for traffic measurement, and Google AdSense, which uses the DoubleClick cookie to personalize ads. It also has sections on GDPR and CCPA rights, including how to request deletion of your data.

What security scanners say

Google's Safe Browsing site status for appshunter.io reads "No unsafe content found," last updated by Google on October 7, 2026.

Are AppsHunter's deals real?

AppsHunter's prices come directly from App Store data and update every day. The quickest test is to take one deal and open the same app on Apple's site.

On October 9, 2026, TurboScan was at the top of AppsHunter's Apps on Sale list at Free, down from $14.99.

Apple's App Store page for TurboScan showed Free the same day.

AppsHunter's price log adds context the App Store page doesn't: TurboScan's lowest price was Free four years ago, so this isn't the first time it has gone free. For apps whose price moves often, the log shows every change with a date, like this one for KORG Gadget 3.

Because prices refresh once a day, a sale that starts or ends after that day's update appears on AppsHunter at the next one, so check the price on the Apple listing linked from every app page right before you buy.

What trust checkers say about AppsHunter

AppsHunter is not AppHunter or AppHunt

Several unrelated services have names that differ from AppsHunter by a letter or two:

  • AppHunter is a third-party Android app store that offers downloads outside Google Play; FileHippo describes it as a way to get premium apps for free.
  • AppHunt is an Android community app where users vote on apps and Android news.
  • AppsHunter.io covers Apple platforms only, offers no downloads, and links every app to Apple's App Store.

If a site asks you to install an APK or download an app file directly, it is not AppsHunter.

How to check AppsHunter yourself

  1. Compare one deal with Apple's listing. Open any app from Apps on Sale, note the ID number at the end of the URL, then open the App Store listing with the same ID and compare the price.
  2. See where the download button goes. Click "Download on the App Store" on any app page; it should open apps.apple.com or the App Store app.
  3. Run the domain through a scanner. Paste appshunter.io into Google's Safe Browsing site status page or into VirusTotal's URL search.

The whole check takes under five minutes, and none of it requires an account.

What to know before you use AppsHunter

  • It shows ads. Google AdSense ads appear on app and deals pages.
  • Some listings are paid placements. Developers can pay to promote an app, and those cards carry a "Promoted" label. They can appear inside deals lists: on October 9, KobCard, a free app with no discount, sat third in the Apps Gone Free list with a Promoted tag, and Cityscribe took a later slot.

  • Prices update once a day. A sale that ends in the middle of the day can still show on AppsHunter until the next refresh.
  • App safety scores come from ratings. The "AppsHunter Safety Score" on each app's reviews page is calculated from App Store ratings. TurboScan's 98/100, for example, is based on 101,306 user ratings, and isn't a security audit of the app.
