Smart Socket / Smart Switch
This app unnecessarily connects a chinese spying smart socket to the Internet, and demands your wifi routers password. Once you swallow that insanity, then the product is really good ! (Youd think a "smart socket" would only need Bluetooth right?).
So the app not only allows me to measure the kWh consumption of my ridiculously inefficient, A+ star-rated deep freezers, but also allows me to set a 7-day on-off schedule for the power supply to the freezers. This allows me to maximise the use of the cheaper overnight Economy-7 electricity tariff to my home.
Ive set three days a week to run the power to the freezers continuously, and four days a week I chop the power supply on and off to focus on the night time tariff. Over a few months then, this clever device and the app will tell me whether more or less power is consumed by continuous supply, or time controlled supply.
The "Smart Socket".seems to store the 7-day schedule and consumption data within itself - not within the app. Even better !
For some reason, the firmware upgrade from V1.7 to V2.0 will not work. Perhaps for the best.
