  • Used to work

Got it working great then the update came out and now I gotta spend 300 to update pro tools to get it to work again! Why can’t we go back a version, you should of let people know. This is the small stuff that is losing life long avid customers! You’re about to lose another one
  • Disappointing

I was super excited when I finally got me an iPad and could use my iPad as a control surface for ProTools 11. Got everything up and running and was having a blast but then the app got a new update and half the features no longer work in ProTools 11 and is requiring me to upgrade to ProTools 12 in order to get some of those features back. Extremely disappointing thanks avid!!! It’s going to be a $300 upgrade just to use the app again

  • Probably awesome if you can make it work

I’ve spent an hour trying to make this work and I’ve gotten almost nowhere. Took me forever to figure out how to download the Eucontrol software for my Mac and I’ve run the installer twice and the icon that’s supposed to appear never does. I’ve been googling for forever and the only suggestions start with “click on the icon”, which I don’t have. I know it’s free and all but seriously.

  • Working perfectly, Protools 10.5.2 on Windows 10

Title says it all. Yes, it took a little googling around to get all the info I needed, but it didn't take too long, and I've been up and running all day ... recording drum tracks from the drum throne! Sweet. If you can't figure out how to make this work, your not enough of a tech/computer geek, find someone who is ... folks it ain't that tough.

  • Great App & A Must Have!

As a professional audio/video engineer and as a contracted recording artist- this helps. I have the Avid Pro Tools Dock and this app is the perfect fit for it. But it gets better. If you not only mix and master audio, but are into Video editing, this app also works with Adobe Premier. Ladies and gentlemen, please hear me, the app, with the Dock is a MUST in audio recording, mixing, mastering, editing and video projects. Trust me, you will find time to play on it because you will finish your work faster. Avid is once again changing the game for the better.

  • Much Improved Version

Avid has done a great job on this application - A lot of very usefull features and a ton of shortcuts that are not available on the Pro Tools application. Very customizable for those users that want to have a peronialzed set up. Yet it has a ton of pre-programmed pages for those who just want to get working straight away. It is very solid and reliable as well - plus it works with other Mac applications NOT JUST PRO TOOLS! It's very easy to set up as well. After using this for a couple of months the potental is very good for future growth and it's totally free!

  • Much improved but not there yet

Changing my review... This is much improved. I love that I can at least control most of a plugin's parameters now from the iPad Pro's screen. What's nice too is that for most plugins the parameters are grouped by function which makes it even more usable. The faders work well. The metering seems to be on target (finally), I haven't had a crash, and it's starting to feel like I can adopt my iPad as my form factor. THAT SAID, and why I gave it 3 stars, even though this is optimized for the iPad Pro, the faders are clearly for people with big hands (geez can they get bigger) and I can't modify preferences to allow me to add more than 8 tracks on screen. I am sure my fingers will do fine with 16 or more. Please add that. The other screens also exhibit huge controls on an iPad Pro. Come on man... Let's consider the form factor properly and fit more things into one 12" screen.

  • Exciting and worthless

I was very excited to try this as I’ve been using V-Control in the past and the idea of the app being first party was intriguing, but unless it’s going to maintain a solid connection, it’s worthless. Again, in my long case against Avid, everyone else has had this type of functionality for years. Logic works great with their DAW and iPad app etc. You can’t keep charging premium pricing when you can’t get it right and that’s in addition to all the DAW features Avid has taken away from non-HD users in the past couple years.

  • Unbelievable!!

Two quick things: I don't normally write reviews, and I've been recording for 15 years.

This app is something every engineer has kind of imagined and wished for. Control of your Pro Tools for free (if you have an iPad) (when controllers like this cost $1000+) is amazing. I love having this specifically when I record myself or when I want an artist to see their tracks layer out while in the booth. I don't have to leave the booth to arm the next track!!

As of right now, connecting and set up was relatively easy (you have to install EU control on your computer), and I don't see any need for improvements but I'm sure they'll come. Hooray for avid giving us something free!

  • Solid start

As someone who spends well over 40 hours a week in PT, I've been itching to get an artist control to add to my setup to use as a quick mixer, shortcut launcher, and to help navigate through extremely large sessions quickly. But, I never could justify the cost of the hardware.

Then Avid released PT Control. . . For free.

While it isn't perfect yet, those of us familiar with artist control/mix setups immediately can jump in and start using this just like the hardware.

For a feature request - larger soft keys (or even better, adjustable)! Without the tactile feel of the buttons, it's hard for me to quickly hit the soft key I want each time (and with a large number of custom scripts being assigned, hitting the wrong one can waste time.). Otherwise a great start, and I look forward to future updates.
