Just what I have been searching for

Just downloaded this app. I have been playing with it all afternoon. We are planing a trip to Japan in the fall. I have been thinking of purchasing one of those hand held voice translators. I have been reading reviews and looking at all manor of voice translators for months. Hand held and earbud translators range anywhere from $100 to as much as $400+. Well.....this app seems to have everything I have been looking for in a voice translator. All in an app on my iPhone 8. An additional plus is I wont have to carry my phone AND a separate voice translators. And the basic is FREE! I gave 4 stars because I havenโ€™t had a chance you use this application while traveling. I have a feeling it will rate the five stars plus!

What a sophisticated product

Even translates languages that were historically quite impossible without AI

Great app

Thanks for a great app

Pinyin is gone

Not sure what happened but since the last update when translating into Chinese it no longer also gives the pinyin as well as the characters so I can no pronounce anything anymore

Microsoft translate is amazing tool

I believe it is getting closer on many fronts and languages.... especially when translating from English to Chinese.

We must however be careful when writing our original text that requires a translation in that the English language should be clear and avoid all ambiguities in what we want to be translated as the tool canโ€™t assume what we mean to say. The clearer we are the more accurate the translation is.

Best translation app

Iโ€™ve tried them all!!

Itโ€™s almost instantaneously, does โ€œrude words, I.e. Adult questions. โ€œWould you like to make love to me โ€œ?
No problems. The pronunciation is spot on and it understands even not perfectly pronounced language.

Laughably terrible app

This app is an abomination and an afront to modern language. I needed this app to translate some Russian and Ukrainian language books I'm selling online. I get it. Cyrillic alphabet is difficult to translate and hence why I downloaded this app, thinking it would help me facilitate that translation. Turns out I was just deluding myself. It flat out couldn't translate the Russian and Ukrainian text. So I tried to translate a German book. The app thought I was trying to translate French to English. French and German? Two very different languages. Okay, then I tried something very. Spanish. It can do Spanish right? Nope. The app thought I was trying to translate Italian to English. Seriously? At this point, I think Microsoft is playing a prank on me by releasing this laughably terrible app. I'll stick to Google Translate. It got the jobs I need done and with zero frustration.

Apple Watch App Crashes

Every time it completes the translation and I hit the play button the app on crashes. The iPhone and iPad work fine but the watch is horrible. Along with the translation voice crashing the app it doesnโ€™t change to a different language easily, it takes multiple attempts to get it to change. Make the watch version the same quality as the iPhone version and itโ€™s a 5 Star app.

no Esperanto?

You have Klingon, which is awesome, but not Esperanto, the international language?

Doesn't work offline

Chose this because has capability to translate web pages within Safari โ€” though often misses sections of page. Handy list of common phrases, though some are incorrect (e.g. German vielen dank instead of danke). Has option to download language packs, but can only select English to English translation unless you're online. Numerous other bugs and atrocious interface.
