  • Home Town News

A great way to keep up with Stockton's news and happenings while traveling.
  • Impressive for phone news app.

So far I have been impressed with it. Far better than expected in terms of reading news on a phone. Still prefer an actual paper, desktop, tablet, and than the phone. Not perfect but than again I had the bar so low this works great!
  • IMPRESSED!

Really like the app. Enjoy having news in this format.
Everything above-I like being able to open app at any time to catch-up on news in Stockton.
    App improvements are great!
  • It used to be much better

It feels like the information on the app isn't updated frequently. They don't put much new content on and leave old articles for quite a while. I don't mind still seeing old articles, but it often feels like there is really no new content. I have been very disappointed that the obituaries have been deleted from the app. There was a time that I would of given the app 4 or 5 stars, but today I was struggling to give it 2.

  • love it!

i love that i can keep updated with my city, it really helps that i can have this app because i'm always on the go.
  • Mostly good

Generally, the Record.net app is great. My biggest complaint is that when one clicks on the News icon, all of the 911 reports come up first. I wish they were categorized on a separate icon because (a) it's really a repeat of 911 calls and not news, and (b) it reinforces the view that Stockton is a dangerous place because most of the "stories" are headlined "911 ...."

    Love it, good local news
  • Consider changing to local news only paper

Gone are the days where you get news regarding the world, nation, State, and local news in one paper. It'd be nostalgic to be able to pick up a thick newspaper full of newsworthy articles contained in one newspaper. I can remember when we were done reading the Stockton Record newspaper--and we would always have a big stack lying around--one of my jobs was to use it to line several grease-absorbing small garbage bins in our family restaurant. Now, there wouldn't be enough newspaper to line even one of those old bins. My point is perhaps The Record could consider concentrating on just local happenings in the valley--the readers might get better, more well balanced articles. Be more proactive in publishing more upcoming events and actually have an Editor's pick for each day--not just the week. Ever read the Monterey Weekly of published events? Let's face it, by the time the Record publishes the scant bit of state, nation, or world news, it's old info anyway and we read or heard a fuller version of the events in or from a different source. How many times have you heard "I only get the Record for the obits." Really? Is that what the Record wants to be known for?
