I feel like I was bamboozled and can’t believe I wasted my hard earned money on the Sony XM-GS6DSP 6 channel mobile audio amplifier. They label this as a DSP amp. It’s far from it. I don’t know where to direct my frustration, the amplifier, or the App!!!
Let me start here. You have ZERO control over crossover points. This is ridiculous and in my mind a complete abuse of the term DSP. In order to use the DSP feature, you need to turn off the high pass filters on the front and rear channels, basically sending from what I can tell, full audio to the front and rear speakers, and the app has absolutely no ability to set crossover points. So you’re left with a muddy sounding system with a subwoofer just overlapping the lower frequencies.
On a typical 6 channel amp with no Bluetooth or DSP gimmicks, you’d find the ability to set a high pass crossover point at a minimum on the 4 channels to match the sub. On this amp you’re only able to use the high pass crossover on the front channels at 500 hz and above. This is insane.
Completely and utterly frustrated. Garbage. The only thing that would fix this in my mind is to allow users to pick crossover points on the first 4 channels. Without that, it’s not a DSP amp. Setting balance and fade does not constitute something being called a DSP. For that matter, nearly every car manufactured in the past 50 years has DSP.
