BEWARE Misleading business model

This review has nothing to do with the quality of the app, it’s a warning about the questionable “business” model.

For the many hundreds of apps I’ve downloaded which are free but labeled as having “In-app purchases”, they have always had a “freemium” model. When you open this app it gives you only three choices, a yearly subscription, a monthly subscription or a 3 day trial which, when the trial expires, doesn’t move you over to the far cheaper monthly subscription, but instead the annual subscription.

The app has a large amount of positive ratings and reviews but these are from a decade ago, when the app did not have this dodgy business model

We do have a freemium model. Just tap the X button, top left on the subscription screen. As for the bait and switch, we offer both monthly and annual subscription. The yearly is the default since it is the best value for money and has a free trial (also, it's $9.99 for the year which I've kept on the very inexpensive side). The monthly is more for if you just want to use all features for a short time or if you want to try out the app for longer but don't want to risk $9.99. So the monthly is $2.99 per month (again I've kept this price down). My guess is that you selected the annual when you thought you were getting the monthly. Anyway, send me an email at support@honkhonkpunch.com and I can send you refund instructions.

Very Satisfied

I have been using this app for a while to make photos for work look more appealing. This app is very simple to use on my ipad - just a couple of steps to make the subject pop with a blurred background. I also just discovered the feature to fix the colour and sharpness (i use a very crappy old school camera for taking the pictures). I have recommended this app to my work colleagues!

I still try other apps but always come back to this one for simplicity and value for money.

Great blurring app for photos

Over the years I’ve needed a blurring app for photos, as I do a lot of mail and take photos for my Instagram. I need to blur our names and addresses. Or identifiable information. This app does exactly what I need.

Not only is it a good blur app, but it has other features such as cropping and filters so you can do multiple things just in the one app. Also, as far as ads, there are some but they don’t annoy you or pop up all the time.

I’ve used this app for a few years now and it is far better than others as far as functionality and usage with the free version.

Very happy with this app! Definitely get it if you’re on the fence and need to blur photos in a pinch.

Misleading (not actually free)

The app advertising is misleading. It might seem like you are getting the app for free, but as soon as you open it, you cannot do anything until you buy a subscription. I didn’t even see a free trial option. Looks like a good app, but I’ll never know because I don’t need to blur/pixelate enough faces to actually justify buying a full subscription.

So far so good. Looks like a legit free blur app

The first blur app I tried wouldn’t even allow me to read the tos without requesting it.. why would I pay for a service like that? Which the app was literally forcing me to do before I could even try it out further. Not this app! Took me 2 seconds to get what I needed and if I needed more or didn’t like the ads I would pay for this one over the other blur apps. Simple and cheaper.
