I started using this App about a week ago, when my prior Sudoku App started going “Wonky”.
I scan my daily Sudoku from my local newspaper… using the camera (iPhone) and taking a picture from a electronic newspaper page.
I think it may have been related to a IOS 16 security update… but now that program will not show the camera image (on first try, it needs to fail once)… and now seem also to fail figuring out the numbers in the grid.
Unfortunately, this other program does not allow you to input/manually choose numbers.
So, I had to find an alternate app. This by far, is the best one I’ve located so far.
It has one great feature (which my old app had, and others don’t)… and that is keeping track of the possibilities left, for each cell.
There are a few enhancements though… which could make this program better!
1. Add a “checker” button… to verify that you haven’t mis-typed/chosen a wrong number in the puzzle. My prior had this feature, which you could query/verify any time you wanted. It also would do this in the background… so that if you were going down the wrong solution… it would warn you after 4 or 5 moves… and state: “Hold On There”… then place a Red Slash in each incorrect Cell.
The on-demand checker also would flag a incorrect cell (Red Slash) by the same means.
2. Auto-Move to the next “undeclared” cell…
Would be a nice feature to add. It really speeds up solving the puzzle, especially towards the end of a game… Most times, puzzles have only one possibility left… so move into the next “free” cell. Sometimes it’s not the cell you want, but more times than not… it is.
