I’ve got 4 Edimax smartplugs.
Recently upgraded plug firmware - which can only be done by downloading a program to a laptop. Time consuming and a bit of a hassle.
Then surprisingly, I was instructed to download a new app. The original one wouldn’t work with the new firmware.
Setup took me an hour. Adding a third plug deleted the second plug. No idea what was going on - eventually I got all four ‘in’ the new app.
It all works but is very ‘clunky’.
I also have 11 TP Link smart plugs - account based, meaning the plugs can be controlled from different devices, unlike the edimax plugs.
Wouldn’t buy any more!

Rubbish
I bought two SP-1101W plugs - simply to have the ability to switch things on and off remotely (when away from home) with the EdiPlug app - it worked, not perfectly, but it worked. They disconnected a few days ago and I performed the hardware update - realised I had to install this new app - and it is rubbish - no remote control outside of my flat whatsoever - the only reason I bought the things in the first place - and the plugs now won’t work with the original app. Put it right - or please refund the cost of the two plugs.

Needs work
This app has potential but as it is right now I would not recommend upgrading. Have tons of problems adding cameras thru the app. I've upgraded most of my 7 cameras to the new firmware and now they are useless. Can't access them with this version at all over wireless, ran cables to connect them wired and some of them worked for a bit but after resetting them now I can't connect again with the app, only with a browser. Not what I wanted. I'm going to see if I can downgrade the camera firmware back to old version so I can use the original Edimax II app that worked great.
I hope they will update this app soon! I love the cameras with the temperature sensor, I use one in my server room.

App crashed all the time and no internet access
Been using ediplug on two edimax plugs without smart meters for years, but though I would get 2 more with smart meters. These would not work with ediplug so had to upgrade the firmware and switch to edilife app , I can access the app and can switch the plugs on, however when trying to configure any options or access the power meter the app just crashes and closes, also the internet access like previous worked on the old app does not work on this, you need to be connected to the local lan to access the switches. Overall very disappointed. Have emailed tech support to see what they advice but may be sending the plugs back as currently they are useless for what I bought them for.

Light switches work fine
I use this for light switches throughout my home since I am handicapped and it works just fine. It is an improvement over Ediplug. An enhancement would be nice to allow you to set a schedule and apply it to all devices instead of having to do each one individually.
Not compatible
This app wont find my ediplug cant find out how to get it to work as you beed this app to use it with the new firmware.
Horrible
Crap. Totally useless. The older EdiView II is a million times better. Never using this app ever. Corrupted all my cameras. Had to reset them and reconfigure all of them. Used this app and once again all cameras got screwed. Re-did all of them again and went back to the old app. Everything back to normal. Deleted for ever!
