This looks like a decent app at first, and it has potential, but I mostly regret the $4.99 purchase. I think the developers are trying to be clever by asking users to contribute things like audio clips of pronunciation and letting those go live without any check of correctness. Good example is the bad pronunciation of the number one. The contributed (wrong) pronunciation is “uhn” like the English pronunciation of prefix “un-,” when it needs to be exactly like the Spanish “uno” but without the “o,” or “oon” in English phonology. Even the Google-translate robot voice does it better, even though it’s choppy, awkward, and unnatural. It really would not cost the developers much to have each word recorded in proper Catalan accent and pronunciation (what I thought I was paying for, but am not getting).
