Reviews of Letterboxd

  • One of my favorite apps but some major issues

I absolutely adore Letterboxd. The layout and aesthetic are magnificent. The ability to enter films in a little diary entry is so great. One of biggest the things that really pisses me off however is the fact that in order for to change the poster and have a backdrop you expect someone to pay 50 freaking dollars a year!? That’s absolutely absurd, just for a cool little feature that is completely free btw on the sister app for TV shows, Serializd, which yes, has way less users and is not nearly as well put together but even so. Another thing is, the ads, which usually wouldn’t bother me but they are so sensitive that even when you’re just barely scrolling and a the smallest fiber on your thumb grazes over it, you are immediately whisked away to the App Store or Google/Safari etc, which is infuriating. Again, I LOVE Letterboxd for the most part, just a couple of things they really need to fix

I love this app. I’m actually addicted to it, but a few things. There should be a tutorial when you download it, because it took me forever to figure out that you can log you films. For the longest time I was only clicking “watched”. Also I feel like it would be nice if we could group tags together. I know tags already group movies together, but as someone who tags a lot if we could make groups for the tags that would be lovely. Or if we could put descriptions for tags. Another thing is that for me and I’m sure a lot of other people just want to change posters, but patron is expensive when that’s all I want to do. I understand patron does come with a lot of other really good benefits, but personally I only want to have cute posters. There should be an option like pro or patron but one that’s cheaper and only allows you to change posters. Because I’d buy that and I feel like it would be appealing for a lot of people to end up buying if it was an option.
