Great concept but camera software needs some work

A picture of a drivers license or passport is required, but it’s next to impossible to get a clear picture with no reflections using the built in camera feature of this app. It doesn’t let you zoom or switch lenses to get a better shot. Also it is not clear how to get out of the picture taking mode. It doesn’t let you upload a photo taken outside the app.
Why can’t I upload a photo of my ID taken with the native iPhone app? It could do a much better job.
I love the idea of voting by smartphone. I hope the photo part of the app can be improved.

Seems to have serious bugs

My ID has been in pending for verification for a few days and when I try to contact them as tibia suggested, I don’t have permission. I’m guessing because I’m in Germany, but since things supposed to be do absentee voters, that’s not very helpful.

What a great concept

I'm using this app in Florida. I love how easy it is to vote on the bills that are being considered in the special session. Great concept!

Fantastic Idea

This needs to be implemented at the federal level. This project and I hope it’s growth and continuation will be a big win for democracy globally.

Verification issue

The verification code I received in my email did not work. The one on Facebook did work. Please fix

Verification Broken

This requires you to verify your identity (a good thing), however when I attempt to take a picture of my face the app will not take the picture. I have tried everything from getting into better lighting to changing what is in the background, it just will not take the photo. I am on a 3rd Generation SE and am wondering if it is because my front facing camera doesn't support Face ID. My wife using an iPhone 13 was able to verify with no issues. If this app requires a specific front facing camera it should really say that in the description, or give you the option to manually take the photo.

Useless

Identity verification requires both a photo of a government ID and a live photo of the voter taken within the app. The app is supposed to take these photos when you’ve positioned the ID Card/your head within the frames the app shows you. Problem: could not get it to take a photo of my face. I tried repositioning my face every which way, changing lighting, moving camera closer or farther, changing background. App never takes the picture. I conclude that this app is a complete waste of time. YMMV.

Great app for expat voting

Oregon pioneered universal vote by mail in 1989 and now has a pilot project for military and expat voting using Voatz. The older reviews seem dated: my experience today was easy, seamless and secure. A great step forward in universal enfranchisement.

Simple, effective voting app

This works. After downloading, you’ll need to verify your contact info (quick) and your ID (slow). Once that’s complete, you’ll receive your ballot and voting is quick and simple. I’m only giving four stars because the recognition software for the passport scanning and headshot is very clunky and not effective.

Cumbersome, eventually gave up

I tried to vote in Venezuela’s National Assembly’s Consulta Popular but couldn’t. Verification process is cumbersome. The election option didn’t show up at once so I gave it a day. Then I logged on and found I couldn’t access the app. When I finally did, they said the ID wasn’t verified, for which I sent I picture I believe was quite clear. I’ll have to go vote in person. I don’t recommend it.
