  • Great app until recently FIX THIS, DEVS!

UPDATE AUGUST 5th 2024: I’ve switched from Boom to GoPlayer. Lifetime is only $10 and it gets the main job done but I would prefer Boom just fix this issue to meet Google’s security Standards so we can stream music from Google Drive!! I love the customizable EQ’s that can be tied to one specific song and things like transcendence audio to make any song more relaxing. GoPlayer lacks this but it is a very nice app with a few different utilities for sure. Glad to have this as a replacement for now.

I LOVE the Google Drive streaming feature as I don’t want to fill my iTunes library with tons of downloaded music and any song I want on my device permanently I can quickly download if I want from G Drive. Recently however, I was logged out and now I get a message stating that this app was dangerous to enable access to google drive so therefore google is blocking me from adding it. Now it’s almost useless for me. I have about 25 GB of 320kbps songs just sitting on my PC now and in my google drive folder that I used to be able to stream from using BOOM! What gives!? Fix this please

Hi there, we apologize for the inconvenience. This issue has been addressed in the latest update. If you continue to experience problems, please let us know.
  • Excellent for playing from TIDAL and FLACs offline

If you want to apply EQ, the best way is to use TIDAL or your own tracks (import using iOS Files app, Dropbox or Drive). You can also just stream from Dropbox or Drive without copying. FLAC is supported. Audio quality and control you get from this app is phenomenal. I use wired IEMs (AFUL P8) and it blows everything out of the water. Bluetooth also works but it’s not lossless obviously. You can import tracks into Boom via SMB share using iOS Files app and they will get copied into Boom app for offline playback. You can choose which Boom playlist to import to. There are a couple of very minor UI bugs but they didn’t affect my user experience or listening at all. 5 stars!!!

One suggestion for developers please make it possible to select multiple tracks at once and move between Boom playlists.

  • Great

At first I was not impressed at all. There was significant distortion for unclear reasons, now that has completely resolved. I listen mostly to Tidal through iPhone with a dragonfly cobalt. Headphone is a new Focal Celestee. Not a lot of bass boost needed because these headphones are bass monsters already; but the EQ function along with the surround effect add a great deal of detail and clarity to the music. Tidal MQA is lost coming out as 44.1 when going through this EQ but that’s an issue with Tidal rather than the Boom Booster. I’m on a trial now but will go ahead and buy a lifetime subscription when the trial is over. Yes, I would recommend it to anyone looking to optimize their music experience.

  • Great sound but vey glitchy

I like the sound well enough that I bought it but the iPhone app still has massive problems. The basic controls are not functioning properly. The button to skip backwards to the last song almost never works. The time readout is never correct, sometimes showing that a song is over an hour long and has timed out at the same time. The app will suddenly start skipping to other songs while you’re in the middle of listening to one. Also, the sound controls are in at least three different places rather than in one place, and good luck trying to find the set you need when want it.
It seems like the developers are more concerned with making the app available to as many streaming services as possible rather than first getting the basic controls down.
I have had their Imac version for many years and it took almost three years before they got the glitches out of it. I’m sure they will on the phone app but you better have patience waiting for them to get this right.

  • Perfect if only…

This is a solid app doing what it says. There is one big shortcoming for me though. It would be so much more usable if there was a way of making whole folder playable off-line or at least had a feature to select all songs of the folder in order to make them playable off-line in one click. Making all the songs off-line from a folder of 50 songs is staggeringly unwieldy and time consuming. I paid for life-long license and I asked for this reasonable feature two years ago. It has never been added unfortunately.

  • No mention of DRM restrictions

I’ve been a Boom! customer for years on iMac (desktop) and believe it’s one of the best products on the market at any price. The app for iPhone is unfortunately lacking. Due to DRM restrictions, iTunes blocks your ability to use Boom’s effects on a lot of songs effectively making the app worthless for a sizable chunk of my music collection even though I PURCHASED these albums and songs. *** It would’ve been nice to know this before I purchased a 6-month subscription to Boom!*** I can’t say I’m upset with Boom as it’s the fault of iTunes being a tight wad. But being more transparent about what you can and can’t do with the app would be a good start.

  • Asking for a refund

I got this app last night to try to find a stop-gap fix for a problem with the highs on my AirPods Pro being too shrill. I knew it wouldn’t be an across the board fix, but expected it to work right. First off, I discovered that it forces you to use it as your music app from now on, and the GUI is ugly and rustic. I hit into errors with locally stored iTunes purchases with it thinking they were Apple Music streaming selectively, and refusing to equalize it all- some will, some it won’t touch and give a DRM error. It also scrambled all the artists, albums, and songs, alphabetizing everything individually, making nothing easy to find. In short, it’s useless. It’s particularly upsetting because when I tried to do the free trial, I got hit with a scammy popup telling me that if I bought a lifetime subscription this very moment, it would be on super sale. So I never even got the free trial to see if it was good or not, in fear of overpaying for something that I could be stuck using for a long time. Apple should make those one chance only sale buy before you try offers against the App Store rules! I’ve written in asking for a refund this evening, but considering that I’m still waiting for a reply from yesterday’s support request, it’s most likely going to take a while before I get assistance.

  • Boom Boom!!!!

If you like how music is supposed to be heard, than you found the right one! Can't stop jamming. Feel like I'm in the studio with the artist! I wish I would have found this earlier. If you like the trial than you will love it. It's no gimmick. It sounds phenomenal. If you learn how to tune it right you real can appreciate it! Well done Boom. I take my hat off to you. Money well spent on a quality product. I love when I spend money on something that really deserves it. Keep up the great work.

  • Wow.....Just wow.

I listen to a lot of coldplay and my iphone speakers get very staticky on some songs. Forces me to carry my Samsung galaxy with me when I can't use my headphones like when I'm at work. This music player allows me to lower or even turn off the things that are causing static in my speakers so I can enjoy the beautiful music while at work and thus be in a good mood for my customers since our in house radio is dreadful even to the customers. Lol. Thanks dev for giving me back my happiness without forcing me to carry my Samsung just for music. When I get better pay, I'll get the paid version for sure. Looking forward to helping the devs out. But for now, I'll lend my support through the praise they deserve.

  • Amazing product for any music head

This app is pretty amazing with the 3D sound quality. No, I’m not an expert or anything but I think this app does a really good job at letting all the sounds and depths of the music come to the forefront of the sound just as equally as they do the vocals. Sometimes I’m listening to a song and it sounds like I’m IN the booth with the finish product playing throughout my ears. The amplification of sound compared to your usual music app is night and day and BOOM sound reigns superior every time. I gave this app 4 stars because I do have one issue with it in my experience, not saying this is an issue for everyone but for me…the app sometimes doesn’t cooperate properly if I don’t completely close out the app after every use. Making it extremely annoying later, when I want to scroll through my song lists after a bit of not using the app.

    WORTH the yearly subscription
