  • This needs more love from you!

No idea how something this cool doesn’t have more views and reviews! This little app amazes me. Love it!
  • OMG So CLOSE To Perfect!!!

I don’t know what the developer did under the hood, but this app consistently generates swanky melodies that you control with your finger. You set the root note, scale and tempo (major/minor only). Sliding your finger around the xy pad generates complexity and variation on a theme. Usable content Ev.Ver.Ry time. So nice, in fact, that I often save a chunk of audio just to transcribe to midi, so I can use these melodies to drive other synths...

Which begs the question; WHY NO MIDI LOVE???

pleasePleasePLEASE add some kind of MIDI OUT!

  • Not impressed

£5.00 for this app and I can hardly hear the instruments for crackling. What a waste of money

    Developer Response

We are sorry that you experience crackles when playing CS2. Since we implemented the Link feature the synth seems to do that on oder devices. We are currently working on that problem. Nevertheless, you can just give it back via the iTunes retour page. Cheers, Per
  • Needs save and load

This is a great little gizmo, easy to use and surprisingly variable within its confines. What it really should have, though, is a save/load option. At the moment just one pattern can be saved at a time, and that vanishes once the app is out of memory. It would also be brilliant if the developers added state saving under AudioBus and midi out controls....but I'm not holding my breath.

  • One to watch.

A clever semi generative performance tool that can make some really nice loops.

The developer is very responsive to suggestions and beavering away on updates, so no doubt that the other star is coming soon.
  • Excellent, fun and creative tool. Recommended!

Chaios 2 Synth lets you set a beat and play with a small number of synth sounds. Then it generates loops of melody to play when you touch it; when you hear something you like, you can store it, along with the current beat and sound settings, in a 'set'. You can collect a number of sets and move between them to make a sort of joint composition. Anything you come up with can be recorded as audio using Audiobus to connect to your app of choice. Apparently MIDI output is in the pipeline, which will be great. But even without, this is a great app for musical fun and help with the creative process. And it's pretty cheap. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

  • Where is the save presets?

Interesting app but for what it is, it is slightly overpriced. Slowing the temple down to 12.5 you can create some interesting drones and ambient music. Below that and I hear a metronome like beat. You can develop some interesting sounds and loops. And while there is a fair amount of flexibility in tonal and timbral aspects for Reverb and Delay, the overall app is fairly limited in audio flexibility. Only the three wave basic wave forms; triangle, saw and square and you can't mix them. There is a drab sounding beat section with hi-hat, snare and kick base.

The unforgivable thing is not having any save preset ability! Their app help points to where it is supposed to be but it's the Loop button in reality. Worse yet, when you exit the app and start it back up, all your settings are lost! It reverts back to the saw tooth wave form, zeros everything out and turns off all of the effects that were on.

It does play in the background but it will not play over Blue Tooth. It would be nice if it could record too.

Since CAiOS Synth2 can't save presets and can't even keep the current settings, it's not much more than a curious 'toy'.
