AirPlay problems and more
Several issues. First problem is the constant nagging to enable notifications. I do not want them, stop asking. Every time I open the app it asks. If there’s a new version of the app it signs me out. I have to decline notifications, sign in, and then decline notifications again. Just stop.
Lots of airplay issues. When doing from the Mac you lose about a third of the screen with borders. On the iPad it frequently disconnects when there is a notification, when the iPad screen goes to sleep, and when attaching the power.
Why is it so difficult to start streaming the game I want? The app never updates the date so it shows me games from dats ago. It’s a confusing mess. Do I tap on the game panel or the “live” button? It’s even odds as to which one will work.

1998 Quality of Technology
This is quite possibly the worst streaming service this world has ever seen. I was hopeful when Ted Leonsis bought out the TV rights from NBC Sports Washington but two years in and missing my favorite team play an uncountable amount of times, while the greatest goal scorer of all time makes his march to the record keep in mind, Ted Leonsis has been unable to deliver the most basic service of streaming going into the year 2025. It’s an absolute joke.
The main issue with the app currently is that every time I attempt to log in with my TV provider I end up getting sent through an endless death loop of “magic links” usernames, redirections to apps on different devices, and text codes. It all just leads in an endless circle and never winds up just connecting your TV provider like every single other streaming service in the entire world. Clown level of incompetence.
Greatest goal scorer the world has ever seen and folks are going to miss it (while paying for MNMTL on cable btw) because this organization is too cheap or incompetent to provide a basic service to their fans.

Worst App Experience I’ve ever had
Terrible experience. I don’t even like Washington sports, but I can’t watch the teams I support without a monumental+ subscription. I paid 20 dollars to watch tonight’s game, which isn’t even happening in the DMV. The emails to confirm my account came so slowly and never worked, so I couldn’t log in on my TV. AirPlay wouldn’t work either. I missed most of the first period trying to get it to work, and the only option is the DMV coverage when I really want the commentators for the other team. The TV app also has a horrible interface—tons of missing text, so it’s hard to figure out account stuff. It’s been less than an hour since I subscribed and I’ve already cancelled. I think I would feel less regret about walking into traffic.

Buggy and frustrating
They really need to work on improving the reliability of this app. Difficulties connecting to server and screen freezing are frequent. And sometimes, the audio continues to play even if you’ve exited the app and gone to another one or even when you’ve tried to turn off the TV! You have to exit to the Home Screen to turn off the stream then go to the other app or power the TV down. I expected better quality for a $199/year subscription.

Worst streaming app I have ever used
Don’t use this app if you don’t have to. I use it to watch the Capitals play, but nothing has ever made me want to buy a vpn more. I have missed so many Caps goals while using this app; it’s unbelievable. Whether it’s audio quality, visual quality, buffering, running ads during play, or signing me out, there are always issues while using Monumental. Monumental signed me out ten times during the last Caps game alone. I really want to support my local sports network, but I just don’t think I can continue to go through such a hassle for such poor quality in return anymore.

Absolutely Awful
This is quite literally the worst app I’ve ever used in my life. I can’t watch any game without the stream freezing or lagging every 2 seconds, and if I try to reduce the video quality so I can at least hear the game, the entire app crashes. If Monumental is going to buy out the other networks for exclusive rights to stream games, you’d think they would actually be able to broadcast those games to those who pay for yet another subscription just to watch their preferred teams. Unbelievable.

Worst app ever
It takes you around and around and around in circles keep asking you to enter the same information over and over again. Then it tells you information incorrect do it all over again.
After I finally got logged in and entered all my information and then told me I was out of the viewing network. That is ridiculous. I live 50 miles from the viewing network and it’s supposed to be 100 mile radius. this is absolutely the worst app I have ever used in my life.

Hot garbage
This app is terrible. Sometimes you have to re-login 6 times to get it to work. And regularly the app will cut to commercial while puck is still in play for caps games. Then cut back after a few seconds. This happens 10-12 times per game. Other times it just freezes for no reason. Occasionally I can’t even get the games to play. I use a hard lined appletv box so Im confident it has nothing to do with my internet speed or wifi. Everyone I know that uses the phone app has had issues getting it to work at all. Also, it’s insane what they’re charging for subscriptions for an app that is such hot garbage. Should have a working app and considerably more content for that price.

Not even functional
I’m in the DC area on a 1G symmetric fiber connection. This poor app can’t play more than 5 seconds of video without hanging and buffering for another 5-110 seconds. It’s genuinely embarrassing software to offer in 2024.
If you’re trying to view DC sports, don’t throw your money away with Monumental. Find one of the “other” streaming sites instead — even with dozens of malicious ads popping up around the stream, it’s a better UX than what Monumental has to offer. And it actually works, so a big improvement!

Really terribly horribly awful
This thing would be horrible if it was free. But paying $20/mo to watch Caps games? Highway robbery. Worked mostly okay up until late January. Then weird partial commercials started interrupting broadcasts. Now, instead of interruptions, I simply get kicked out and app restarts. Over and over and over again. Same thing happens in the Roku version, so this is not a platform issue. It is just really, really bad back-end programming.
